We are HUGE advocates for pet insurance here, all of our dogs are covered by policies and it has more than paid for itself in the last few years.  With the cost of veterinary care increasing along with the quality of available care, we think insurance is a MUST for any pet owner.  A savings account will likely not cut it if your pet is seriously injured or ill.  We use both Pet's Best and Trupanion and recommend them both.
